Primary voting begins Saturday
Editor, OBSERVER:
Primary Elections are upon us.
Early Voting starts soon on Saturday and runs until June 21. The times vary. The two polling places are the Chautauqua County Fair Grounds 4-H Building Ag. and Expo Center, 1089 Central Ave., Dunkirk, New York 14048; and the Robert H. Jackson Ctr. On 305 East Fourth Street, Jamestown, New York, 14701. Enter on the Pendergast Ave. entrance. You can go to either polling place for the primary early voting.
Important. If you live in Pomfret 1,2,3,4,6 you will vote at Harvest Chapel FMC, 39 Matteson St. in Fredonia. Wheelock School is no longer a polling site.
Consult with the Chautauqua County Board of Elections for Poll Worker training. The trainings start on Aug. 11 and end on Aug. 27.
Register to vote for the November elections soon. If you had a change of address, name change, or want to change party affiliation you need to reregister.

Times may be changing for Trump
Editor, OBSERVER:
The upcoming midterms will provide us with the opportunity to remove some of President Donald Trump’s GOP enablers, and offer us some light in the dark political tunnel we find ourselves in.
Trump’s ill-advised war with Iran, and his recent attempts to establish a slush fund, and gain immunity from IRS scrutiny have provided Democrats with enough ammo to devastate the GOP this November. Congress needs to be fumigated, and the midterms will serve that purpose. It’s amazing to me that Trump has stayed in power mostly because of the pathetic addiction to power practiced by Republicans in Congress.
For the first time in his life he will start to hear the word “No” coming from the avalanche of Democratic opposition. And because of his delicate psyche and the fact he’s a world-class coward, Trump will bundle up his $billions, then resign his office. He’ll run away to a country that won’t extradite him back to face his crimes. My hope is that the International Court at the Hague will track him down and bring him to justice. For the rest of us, we’ll have the opportunity to install meaningful changes to our government: term limits for every office, a recall provision for the office of president, no more pardon power, no more foreign gifts, felons not eligible to run for office (just for starters).
The elections of ’26 and ’28 are quite possibly the most important in our history. My hope is that we have enough proud, courageous and dedicated patriots around to point our nation in a new direction.
