Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1990

Seventeen Ripley Central School art students in grades 7-12 will have 22 of their two-dimensional artworks created this year displayed at the Gerace Building in Mayville. Exhibiting their works are Jeanetter Beerbower, Chad Best, Holly Bowman, Ken Collins, Eric Estes, Russ Ewing, Scott Hamels, Tracy Krause, Ed Lanphere, Chris Nichols, Mark Raeder, Carol Rex, Janel Rice, Andrew Schaper, Jennifer Strine, Mike Wright and Shelly Wright.

Forty years ago — 1980

The National Association of Counties (NaCo) honored Chautauqua County with three awards for its programs at the 1980 convention in Las Vegas. The programs recognized were the Share-Service Microfilm Project; the Welfare Employment Plan, also known as the Chautauqua Plan; and the Rural Health Grant Project.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Stockton Fire Department selected Bonita Lawrence of Bear Lake to represent the department at the Chautauqua County Gala Days, being held in Stockton this month.
