Thirty years ago — 1991

Three local Boy Scouts were honored at the 17th annual Religious Awards Ceremony at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Buffalo. They are Adam Czekanski, a member of St. John Bosco Parish in Sheridan; Lucas Czekanski from St. Hyacinth’s Parish in Dunkirk and Ted Lutz IV, a parishioner of Dunkirk’s Holy Trinity Church. The boys received the Ad Altare Dei Award.

Forty years ago — 1981

Helen Clark, 72, of 8 Lodi St., Forestville received a check for $80,000 as a March 6 winner of the New York State Lottery. Mrs. Clark, the $100,000 “instant game” winner was recognized at a luncheon in Buffalo by State Lottery Director John Quinn. She said she would use the money to “fix up the house.” The winning ticket was purchased at Cave’s Food Center in Forestville.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Robert Michalak of Dunkirk has graduated from the University of Detroit College of Engineering. The recipient of a mechanical engineering degree, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Michalak, 612 Park Ave., Dunkirk.
