Thirty years ago — 1992

St. Hyacinth’s Class of 1942 celebrated its 50th reunion with a dinner reception at the First Ward Falcon Club. Special guests were the Rt. Rev. Msgr Casimir A. Zak, current pastor, the Rev. John Posiewala, Sister Mary Edmundin and the class’ seventh- grade teacher, Sister Mary Antonella. Awards were presented to Elaine Schmitt, first reservation; Anthony Schrantz, last reservation; Frank Dobek, traveled the farthest; Edward Jasinski, most grandchildren; and Albin Szwejbka, least changed.

Forty years ago — 1982

Justin and Aaron Korwin, 5- and 3-yearold sons, respectively, of Ms. Cheryl Korwin of Silver Creek, were selected to perform at the talent competition held in conjunction with the recent Eden Corn Festival. The brothers performed a tumbling routine to “Mister Clown.”

Fifty years ago — 1972

A native son of Dunkirk, Dr. Leslie F. Chard, now on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati, is the author of a new book,m “Dissenting Republican,” which is a study of the political and religious thought of the English poet William Wordsworth.
