Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1992

JoAnne Powell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Josef M. Powell of Fredonia, will be representing the Fredonia Rotary Club and District 7090 as an exchange student to Brazil. A 1992 Fredonia High School graduate, JoAnne will study at the local high school as well as at the University of Brazil in Brasilia. She will return to Fredonia in July 1993 and continue her studies at Cazenovia College.

Forty years ago — 1982

Carol Kozlowski, R.N., recently was appointed director of nursing at Brooks Hospital. Prior to her promotion, the Dunkirk native had been associate director of nursing for a 10-year period. The department of nursing services at the 176-bed hospital includes 250 employees. Married to Gerald Kozlowski, the couple have three daughters and reside in Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The Saturday special at the White Horse Inn in Cassadaga is prime rib for only $4.75.

The Dunkirk Patriots captured first place in the marching division during the Fredonia Farm Festival parade. They won $150.
