Thirty years ago — 1992
The 25th annual Festival of Grapes pageant is planned around a Silver Anniversary Theme. Eleven girls who are juniors and seniors in area high schools will compete for the title of Miss Festival of Grapes while 10 contestants will vie for the Little Miss Festival crown. The pageant is sponsored by Personal Best, a school for self-improvement, acting and modeling in Snyder.
Forty years ago — 1982
An idea first conceived in 1980 by the Rev. Richard Amico, pastor of Holy Trinity Church, recently became reality as he led a group of 98 people on a very special trip to Italy. As a special honor, Father Amico celebrated Mass in Mussomelli, Italy at the Feast of the Blessed Mother celebration for which his tour group was given front row seats and a police escort into town.
Fifty years ago — 1972
Norbert Pilarski of 18 Pine St., Dunkirk has been appointed to serve as a member of the Committee on Officers Report at the 16th constitutional convention of the United Steelworkers of America in Las Vegas this month.
