Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1992

New hard maple doors with stained glass windows were installed recently in the St. Rose of Lima Church in Forestville. Carl and Connie Cain put the finishing touches on the doors. The project included work by parishioners Perry Lee and Chuck Hinckley, who rubbed down and stained the doors. The Rev. Gerald Sheehan, Georgie Hinckley, Walter Waligora and Helen and Perry Lee served on the committee to design and match the new stained glass to the originals installed in the parish 82 years ago.

Forty years ago — 1982

Seventy-five friends and former students of the Rev. James P. Robinson, SSE attended a reception at the Shorewood Country Club honoring the visiting pastor and his 25th jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood. Father Robinson taught at the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School from 1958 to 1964. The reception was planned by Doris Thompson and Mary Reading.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The 20th Olympic Games were temporarily suspended today after an Arab vengeance squad shot its way into the Israeli quarters of the Olympic Village in Munich, killed two Israeli men and seized nine Israeli hostages.
