Thirty years ago — 1992
At the annual Stockton Old Fashioned Days held recently, contests were held that appealed to men and women of all ages. The winners of the oldest man and oldest woman awards were Edmund Berndt, age 87, and Minnie Roberts, who is 101. They were both presented with medallions.
Forty years ago — 1982
Arthur G. Orth of Albany Avenue, Dunkirk was elected and installed as head of St. Mark’s Conclave, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine in Buffalo. An organization of Masons recognized as dedicated to the Masonic fraternity, its jurisdiction includes Rochester and all of western New York as well metropolitan Buffalo. Mr. Orth is a York Cross of Honor Mason and a Thirty-third Degree Mason of the Scottish rite. Each represents the highest orders of these Masonic bodies.
Fifty years ago — 1972
Pucci’s Carpets is holding its grand opening at 50 West Main St., Fredonia. The Dunkirk Hose Co. No. 1 Drum and Bugle Corps is planning its 40th anniversary banquet for Oct. 21.
