Thirty years ago — 1992

Two Business Improvement Awards were presented at the annual banquet held by the Westfield Chamber of Commerce at the Barcelona Harbor House. Winners, who were selected based on efforts made to improve their business property are Patty Martinson from C.J.’s Pizza and Subs; and Tom, Catherine and Samuel LaPorte, all from LaPorte Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Geo Inc.

Forty years ago — 1982

Student of the Week is Cheryl Lynden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lynden of Osborne Road, Fredonia. A senior at Fredonia High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society and current secretary of Key Club. Cheryl enjoys bicycling and traveling. Following graduation, her plans are to attend Fredonia State University College, majoring in business administration.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Loblaws Inc. of Buffalo this week officially welcomed Ralston Purina to the Dunkirk-Fredonia area with feature items and displays in Loblaw stores in Dunkirk and Westfield.
