Thirty years ago — 1993
A “Do You Remember?” photo reveals that Nial Hadden operated a business at 6 Center St. to support Fredonia’s growing natural gas business at the turn of the century. He advertised “Everything for Natural Gas — Power Burners a Specialty.” The photo was taken between 1907-1909. The gentleman in the photo is Nial Hadden’s older brother, William Parks Hadden, who was a partner with his brother in the business. William was a member of the Masonic Order at Fredonia.
Forty years ago — 1983
Fredonia Mayor Louis Mancuso announced today that he will seek be seeking a third two-year term in the March 14 village election. Mayor Mancuso listed as his first priority the water distribution system and water production facilities “which I believe holds the key to any future economic growth in the village.” Another top priority is to make the sewer plant more cost effective and efficient.
Fifty years ago — 1973
Frank Dudek of Babcock Street, Silver Creek was chosen to fill the vacancy left by Jay Roof on the Silver Creek School Board. President Louis Piede conducted the meeting.
