Thirty years ago — 1993
There will not be many changes made with the acquisition of the Westfield Bells Supermarket by Scrivner Inc. of Oklahoma City, Okla. The store will now be called Market Basket. New product lines are already on the shelves. Bells customers who purchased the yellow label and National Brands will now find comparable products under Best Yet and Our Value labels. The Market Basket is a group of 20 stores in northwest Pennsylvania and southwestern New York.
Forty years ago — 1983
Many local women have found weightlifting a unique alternative to jogging and exercise classes in their effort to stay in shape. Lynn Spell of Fredonia and Barb Kosierb of Dunkirk are among a dozen women who frequent the Dunkirk Fitness Center twice weekly to train with weights.
Fifty years ago — 1973
Miss Jane M. Pease has been named 4-H Extension Agent with the Chautauqua County Extension Association. Her major area of responsibility will be the county’s 4-H home economics program and the county 4-H teen programs.
