Thirty years ago — 1993

At ceremonies held at the Murray Hose Co. No. 4 fire hall earlier this month, a plaque honoring the company’s 172 deceased members was unveiled. The names date back to 1906, when the company was founded. Designed by Louis Ziegler, secretary, the plaque was dedicated by the Rev. Thomas E. Crane, pastor of St. Hedwig’s Church.

Forty years ago — 1983

Anne Biasuzi, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Silver Creek, has been selected to receive “The Lay Award of St. Joseph the Worker” at St. Joseph’s Cathedral. She was chosen to receive the commendation in honor of her contributions to the church and the community. The former Anne Biscaro and her late husband, Peter Biasuzi, operated an auto dealership in the Silver Creek area for several years.

Fifty years ago — 1973

Rick Nasca and Kathy Mleczko were selected as the freshman class king and queen at Dunkirk High School.
