Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1993

Cynthia Ann Stefan was recently named manager at Stefan’s Recreation Inc., 24 Lake Shore Drive West in Dunkirk. Cynthia earned a BS degree in accounting from SUNY Fredonia and is currently completing a re-design and decorating the store. She has worked in the operation of the store with her father, Lou, for years. As the oldest established marina in Dunkirk Harbor, the store has a rich history and features well-versed and experienced staff.

Forty years ago — 1983

“Time,” a popular song, was used as the theme for the Westfield Academy and Central School prom held recently at the school. Members of the junior class, supervised by teacher Candice Courtney, were in charge of the prom’s planning and decorations. The highlight of the evening was the naming of the king and queen and their court. They are: King David Pointon, Queen Amie Catalano, Prince Scott Grant and Princess Terri Schell.

Fifty years ago — 1973

The Scout of the Year Award was given to Raymond Pauszek II, 116 S. Martin St., Dunkirk at the 16th annual Boy Scout Troop 8, Father and Son Communion breakfast sponsored by the First Ward Falcon Club.
