Thirty years ago — 1993
Terry Anderson, former Associated Press Middle East bureau chief held captive by terrorists for almost seven years, will be the featured speaker at this year’s Chautauqua County Democratic Committee fund-raising dinner. Since his release, he has spent his time writing and lecturing on the Middle East. The $50-aplate dinner is being held at the Cranston Dining Center on the SUNY Fredonia campus.
Forty years ago — 1983
Regal Lumber Company on West Lake Road, Dunkirk (across from Shorewood Country Club) recently held its grand opening with many prizes and giveaways over the weekend. Ron Carlson, who has been associated with Regal Lumber for 17 years, is the store manager. Regal Lumber has been located in the Jamestown area for 54 years and is locally owned and operated.
Fifty years ago — 1973
Certificates of merit for mechanical drawing have been presented to John Moch, Bernard Patz and Ronald Mirek. They are all juniors at Dunkirk High School.
