Thirty years ago — 1993
Lucas M. Czekanski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Czekanski of Dunkirk received his Eagle Scout award during ceremonies at St. Hyacinth’s lyceum. A member of Boy Scout Troop 254, Lucas is a junior at Dunkirk High School. For his Eagle project, he supervised the construction of a sign for the creative playground at School 6 that gives recognition to those who donated funds and those who built the playground.
Forty years ago — 1983
Paul J. Cambria Jr., a Fredonia native, and Samuel R. Miserendino of Angola have been named two of the “best lawyers in America” for clients with average problems in a newly published “consumer’s guide.” The guide, published by G.P. Putnam, was created from information received from a confidential survey of lawyers nationwide. Cambria was named as one of the best lawyers in criminal defense and Miserendino in civil litigation for plaintiffs.
Fifty years ago — 1973
A four-member expert parachute team is part of the weekend entertainment planned for the D & F Plaza Carnival Sale. George Butchko, manager of the W. T. Grant Co. store, is chairman of the sale.
