Thirty years ago — 1993

Paul Till has announced his plans to run for Sheridan Town Justice in the Nov. 2 election. He has received the endorsement from both the Democratic Party and the Conservative Party. An area resident all of his life, Mr. Till is the father of five children and resides on Miller Road with his wife, Sharon. He has been employed at AL Tech Specialty Steel for more than 30 years.

Forty years ago — 1983

Local Dunkirk officials this morning reported they were disappointed and upset over reports from Mayville that the proposed Dunkirk county office building will be put on a backburner until at least 1985. An anticipated $2 million deficit in local welfare costs was cited as one of the chief reasons that county officials are recommending the county office building be put on hold. It was determined that economically, it is the wrong time to undertake the project.

Fifty years ago — 1973

Steven M. Warnick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Warnick, 12 Lowell Place, Fredonia has received a juris doctor degree from Boston University’s School of Law.
