Thirty years ago — 1993

Attorney Grace M. Hanlon has opened a general law practice in the Village Square building in downtown Fredonia. Ms. Hanlon also will continue her duties as an assistant district attorney for Chautauqua County. She has practiced law in the county for over a year in private practice in Westfield and with the DA’s office. Hanlon, a Pace University Law School graduate, is married and lives in Westfield.

Forty years ago — 1983

The “salad bar,” a healthy “quick food,” has found its way to supermarkets, and in Dunkirk, Bells Market is the first to make it available to customers. The salads, fruits and vegetables are available in three sizes, with a choice of dressings. Chuck Guzzetta is the store manager; Bob Katta, produce manager.

Fifty years ago — 1973

Betty and Corydon Crowell, a brother and sister team from South Dayton, will represent Chautauqua County in the State 4-H Dairy Judging Competition at the State Fair in Syracuse.
