Thirty years ago — 1994

From Just between us … On Feb. 20, while paternal grandmother Mrs. Joseph Farrell of Harrysbourg was hosting a baby shower in their honor, Barbara Farrell and daughter Alexandria Marie (born Feb. 19) were resting at Westfield Hospital. So new father James “Jimmy” Farrell of Dunkirk, after visiting with his family, traveled back to Dunkirk to serve as proxy guest of honor at the festivities. He joined the guests for the buffet dinner and then took on the task of opening (with appropriate comments) the variety of gifts for his daughter.

Forty years ago — 1984

Niagara Mohawk retirees were honored recently at the Moniuszko Club. They include Michael Kurtz (42 years) operations department; Thomas Ronan (35 years) electrical maintenance; Art Adamczak (33 years) mechanical maintenance; Keith Knight (38 years) electrical maintenance; Joe Beale (25 years) electrical maintenance; and Frank Bomasuto (12 years) security.
