Thirty years ago — 1994
Parishioners of St. Patrick’s Church on Central Avenue in Brocton marked the 50th anniversary of the church at that location last month. The church was constructed in June 1944 after the original building on Pullman Street was lost to a fire in 1943. Bishop Edward Head took part in the dedication and blessing of the new stained-glass entrance window which was donated in memory of Milo Parisio and designed by Anthony Riforgiat. The Rev. Robert G. Beiter, who was appointed pastor of St. Patrick’s on July 22, 1986 concelebrated the anniversary Mass of Thanksgiving. with Bishop Head.
Forty years ago — 1984
Liberty National Bank recently announced the promotion of Dunkirk native Daniel Drozdiel as assistant manager at the Hamburg office. Mr. Drozdiel began his career with Liberty in 1983 in the advanced management training program. He holds a degree in economics from Buffalo State University and serves as an advisor to the Lake Shore Central High School Chapter of Junior Achievement of WNY. He resides in Silver Creek with his wife, Shirley.
Fifty years ago — 1974
The Historical Society of Dunkirk has started a drive for funds for a monument to mark the first New York and Erie Railroad train in Dunkirk.
