Thirty years ago — 1994

Several months ago, a countywide task force was formed by former county legislator Al Jones and includes businessmen, county legislators and other interested county residents. It has become the mission of this committee to enlist broad-based support for the improvement of Route 60 and to develop a long-range vision of what the Route 60 surface and rights-of-way should become by the year 2000. Route 60 is recognized as a vital means of moving manufactured goods and materials across the county from the Niagara Frontier to the Atlantic States region.

Forty years ago — 1984

Walter Mondale has chosen Rep. Geraldine Ferraro to be his running mate. If the Democratic National Convention meeting in San Francisco nominates Mondale and Ferraro as expected, it will be the first time in American history that a woman has been on the ticket of a major political party.

Fifty years ago — 1974

A New York City architect met with members of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Players to consult with them on the renovation and reconstruction of the Depot Playhouse on East Main Street in Fredonia.
