Thirty years ago — 1994 Vonnie VanCuren, a senior at Silver Creek Central School, has been selected as “Student of the Week.” An artistically gifted student, she is the graphic editor and photographer for the school’s yearbook. Vonnie has also designed and is in charge of advertisements for this year’s school musical, “L’il Abner.” She also works part time and the Foliage House Florist Shop. Thirty years ago — 1994 Stanley J. Sliwa has been made a partner in the Buffalo law firm of Cohen and Lombardo, P.C., which he joined in 1991. He heads the firm’s Products Liability, Toxic Tort and Municipal Liability departments. According to a spokesman, January temperatures averaged 17.2 degrees above zero for the month’s 31 days, which is 6.4 degrees below normal. It was the coldest January on record since 1982.
