Thirty years ago — 1993 Union and community leaders today are vowing an all-out effort to do “whatever it takes” to persuade Alumax Extrusions Inc. to reconsider a plan to permanently close its Dunkirk facility in November. The company has announced it will gradually phase out all production at the plant during September and October and close the facility for good on Nov. 1.
