Thirty years ago — 1992 Dunkirk Mayor Margaret Wuerstle said she will ask the common council to reconsider a proposed charter change that would extend the mayor’s term in office from two to four years and another that would abolish the existing at-large council elections system. Thirty years ago — 1992 Former area resident Charles Parlato, a longtime trumpet player with the band of the late Lawrence Welk, recently returned to the area for several days to visit relatives and friends. One stop included the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LoGuidice, 264 Temple St., Fredonia. Charles began playing with the Welk band in 1961 and was a member of the group for well over 20 years.
