Once you get past the bumpy ride of Route 60 from Dunkirk-Fredonia into Cassadaga this winter, you can find plenty of snowmobilers hitting the trails.

Over the weekend, the weather cooperated for “A Taste of the Chautauqua Trails” at the Fireman’s Grounds in Stockton. “What that is, is contributions from many of the restaurants and taverns and different spots along the trail,” said Ray Head, president of the Chautauqua County Snowmobile Club Federation.

Like it or not, Chautauqua County can capitalize economically on winter – and this year has been a snowmobiler’s delight. Besides traveling to restaurants, these groups can spend money at area businesses and hotels.

So while many may be dreading one more month of winter, others will continue to hit the trails. That’s good news for many area economies.
