ROBLIN STEEL: Employee’s care found in books

Dunkirk resident Frederic A. Bolling was committed to his work and fellow employees. So much so that when Roblin Steel began, Bolling documented almost every event from the opening until the closing of the plant.

Earlier this month, his family passed on Bolling’s books of records – all eight that date from 1962 to 2014, when Bolling passed away.

It is an impressive collections. There are the good news items, such as births, weddings, sports and the not-so good items – the deaths and arrests. Bolling’s books provide a wealth of information on the people and events that shaped Roblin.

The collection is now in the hands of the Dunkirk Historical Society and can be viewed by calling the organization at 366-3797.
