HOSPITAL: Keeping area in the loop
For nearly eight years, whatever happened at Brooks Memorial Hospital was done under a shroud of secrecy. Since last March, things have definitely taken a turn for the better.
Hospital administration and board members have become more open to the community, especially in light of more than $57 million coming to the facility through New York state. A chunk of that cash will go toward building a new Brooks Hospital.
Just where remains a question. Some ideas floated at the meeting of community and governmental leaders included the former Cornell Cooperative Extension land off Route 20 in Fredonia as well as property in the town of Dunkirk along Route 60.
The key aspect in all of this is one thing: communication. Community leaders and stakeholders are aware of Brooks’ plans. This is very refreshing – and a positive step in moving forward with a new direction, future and location.
