MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.: Keeping the dream alive

There’s days our region embraces diversity. Other days, not so much.

You could say the same about our great country — the United States of America. It is a great melting pot, but it has a poor history of inclusion for all nationalities and races. Even at this time, division is quite evident.

Martin Luther King Jr. made America rethink its values and bring us all closer together. He did it with words — and without violence.

That made some uncomfortable.

Today, “The Power of Love … Building Bridges, Tearing Down Walls” is the theme for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon that takes place at the Moose Lodge in Dunkirk at 11:45 a.m. Dr. Barbara Seals Nevergold of the Buffalo school board is the guest speaker.

Elected officials and community members will be in attendance. Today’s event — and a pausing by America to remember a man of peace — proves King’s dream is still alive.

Starting at $3.50/week.
