SHERIDAN: Licensing is a pet project
A recent Sheridan Town Board meeting offered dog and animal lovers a valuable lesson. Licensing dogs is of great assistance to the owners and area residents.
Incidents from this year in the town regarding the unlicensed pets being found can be heart-breaking for many. One dog that got loose died as the result of an auto accident while another just happened to be located by a town homeowner. In the latter case, a license helped reunite the canine with the family.
“What I am getting at is that we can’t help people if people don’t respect the law and get their dogs licensed,” said town Supervisor John Walker.
Owning a pet comes with responsibility. If you own a dog you love, make sure it’s licensed.
