Big Boston trip receives help

Gowanda eighth-graders eyeing a trip to Boston received some welcome news earlier this month.

Community leaders, from the Gowanda Kiwanis Club, donated funding so children needing financial assistance could have the opportunity. “Our club had a very intensive discussion and felt that this was such a worthwhile trip that we thought it would be truly unfortunate if any student who wanted to go wouldn’t be able to go because of a lack of funding,” said Kiwanis member Jerry Greenlee. “We decided to donate to the eighth grade trip $2,000 to establish a grant and aid or scholarship fund of their choosing, of their design, to assist students who would like to go on this trip but have inadequate funding.”

There’s great interest in the trip by many in the class. This Kiwanis gift is one some Gowanda students will remember for a lifetime.
