Weekend, Our top-notch first responders

What a weekend for first-responders in our region. Beginning with the Sunset Bay fire around 4:30 a.m. and ending with a wild and windy day through Monday, all are deserving of two thumbs up.

Important in the Sunset Bay inferno was the saving of nearby homes, which earned the praise of the county executive. “Everyone got out safe,” said George Borrello. “Our first responders got here quickly. … They have saved the neighboring houses.”

As for the winds, it was high anxiety for everyone. Crews received a number of calls for downed wires and a structure that collapsed in Dunkirk.

All in all, it was an effort that went above and beyond.
