Seeking ideas for city site

Even opponents of the Brooks Memorial Hospital move from Dunkirk to Fredonia can have a say in an important property in the city. Last week, Brooks officials and the reuse committee sent out a call to all residents for some suggestions on what to do with the current site.

“The (committee) will have a deep and open conversation about the possibilities for the Central Avenue property and the neighborhood in which it sits,” said Lou DiPalma, co-chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc.. “As part of that conversation, the public is encouraged to submit ideas and comments relative to this important community project on the hospital website at”

Some ideas floated already include a possible nursing home, senior living center or a potential urgent care facility. But other thoughts are needed regarding the land that sits on the Central Avenue block between Sixth and Fifth streets.
