Seeking ideas for city site
Even opponents of the Brooks Memorial Hospital move from Dunkirk to Fredonia can have a say in an important property in the city. Last week, Brooks officials and the reuse committee sent out a call to all residents for some suggestions on what to do with the current site.
“The (committee) will have a deep and open conversation about the possibilities for the Central Avenue property and the neighborhood in which it sits,” said Lou DiPalma, co-chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc.. “As part of that conversation, the public is encouraged to submit ideas and comments relative to this important community project on the hospital website at www.brookshospital.org/hospital-reuse.”
Some ideas floated already include a possible nursing home, senior living center or a potential urgent care facility. But other thoughts are needed regarding the land that sits on the Central Avenue block between Sixth and Fifth streets.
