MEMORIAL DAY: Making a call for the flags

With Memorial Day only six days away, John Miga of the American Legion Post 62 sent us a reminder that’s worth repeating. American flags are being placed in cemeteries across our region near the graves of our veterans.

Miga noted in an e-mail to the OBSERVER: “During the next several days, volunteers from several veteran organizations, JROTC cadets, scouts (and others) will be decorating Dunkirk cemeteries with American flags on the graves of all veterans. If any grave is overlooked, please stop by the Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave. after 3 p.m. to pick up a flag.”

As a reminder, Monday is not just a day off. It is a day for us all to reflect and remember the sacrifices of our bravest.
