CASSADAGA Controversial past for appointment

A former Dunkirk city contractor and employer is back to work at another municipality after creating plenty of waves in the recent months. Cassadaga earlier this month named Wendy Spinuzza its new code enforcement officer.

“She’s a sharp gal,” said Deputy Mayor Bill Astry of Spinuzza at the meeting.

She also drove a wedge through the city of Dunkirk. In April, in a 3-2 vote by council, Spinuzza was granted $140,000 after claiming she was misclassified as an employee by the city. Even staunch union defender Councilman Don Williams voted against the settlement.

Spinuzza may seem like an affordable answer for Cassadaga now, but it may end up costing them a lot more in the future.
