EDUCATION: A new normal for districts

An unseasonably cool spring and later than normal graduations have delayed a summer in northern Chautauqua County. On Sunday, the final area districts wished Class of 2019 members farewell and good luck in their future endeavors.

That longer school year is tied to New York state. Tests are being given later in the year, backing up graduation ceremonies until the end of June.

What does this mean moving forward? School in September will begin a bit later on the first Thursday and Christmas break will be two weeks for many districts.

You can consider the new schedule a bit of a learning curve for all students and community members.
