IMPROVEMENTS: Pitching in for the park

Sometimes it takes more than a village, as town of Pomfret board members learned during a recent meeting.

While discussing renovations at Russell Joy Park, town Highway Superintendent Jude Gardner mentioned a number of recent improvements. These include a new pavilion roof, a paint job by the Cassadaga Job Corps and solar-powered motion-activated floodlights.

“Russell Joy looks the best I’ve ever seen in my life,” said Pomfret Town Board member Brett Christy.

Besides assistance from the Job Corps, the village of Fredonia and Department of Public Works chief Tony Gugino also received help from town workers.

Cooperation, as this example shows, benefits all our communities.

Starting at $3.50/week.
