Fredonia: Charter debate not captivating

There’s definitely two sides to the charter issue that will be discussed tonight at the village board meeting in Fredonia. On one side is the current mayor, who is making a push to remove the administrator position from the document. The other side, led by former village attorney Sam Drayo, wants it reinstated.

It is hardly an attractive issue — and much of it comes down to legalese, which barely ever captivates a constituency.

But depending on what happens tonight with the proposal, this could be a key election issue. The Republican side apparently believes in a village administrator, while the Democrats currently serving on the board do not.

How much weight this carries with the voter? That remains to be seen.
