FOOTBALL SEASON Meaningless finale is a welcome change

The OBSERVER's View

Another meaningless December finale is much sweeter this season for the Buffalo Bills. When the New York Jets come to town for Sunday’s 1 p.m. game at New Era Field, very little is on the line for either team.

Buffalo clinched a playoff spot two weeks ago — and is locked into the fifth seed in the American Football Conference. The Jets have had a year of turbulence. After a slow start filled with injury and illness, the New Yorkers are coming on. If they win, nothing changes for either team.

So sit back and relax. Buffalo’s first big game is next week. Let the playoffs begin.
