Nearly 24,000 people live in Searcy, Ark. They have seen the economic downturns that Western New Yorkers have been through.

Once home to the oil and gas industry, the community has suffered. But last year, residents and elected leaders spoke in one voice to claim $500,000 as the winning entry in the Small Business Revolution Season 4.

Fredonia is closer than many residents may realize. This week, members of the show will be visiting the village as it is a Top 10 finalist.

In social media, we all need to spread the #MYFREDONIA sentiment through Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and others. The Fredonia Chamber of Commerce has taken the lead — with incoming village Mayor Douglas Essek with plenty of support from the town of Pomfret.

Residents here have clamored for years we need some sort of boost. This, a nationally televised event and contest, is a super opportunity.
