ARKWRIGHT: Change at top shifts control

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the town of Arkwright in recent years. Much of it revolves around the wind turbines, which went online about two years ago.

During the process of getting wind energy in the town, which lasted more than a decade, some residents believed town officials were not being as open and honest as they could be. That led to a group of residents running under the Arkwright Advocates ticket. This group, most of all, wanted “respect for taxpayers.”

One of those candidates, however, had to resign last month. In a letter, Ted Wightman announced the decision due to changes in his employment. “I will no longer be able to give the position the time and attention it demands,” he wrote.

That leaves, for now, a split board. Two factions from previous boards and two from the Arkwright Advocates.

How this plays out in the town of less than 1,100 is worth watching.
