SILVER CREEK: Embracing idea of a Grape fest

Kudos to the organizers of the annual Festival of Grapes in Silver Creek for pressing ahead with a 2021 festival.

After canceling the festival earlier this year, organizers re-evaluated the cancellation after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. The Sept. 24 to 26 festival will still include food and drink vendors, carriage rides and band performances, but the pentathlon, wine and dessert competition, parade and baby contest won’t be held as organizers wanted to curtail activities that may have made people feel uncomfortable participating.

Yet to be decided is if the grape stomping event will be held as organizers try to figure out protocols for event workers.

It may not be the same event area residents are used to, but give credit to organizers for working quickly to put the Festival of Grapes together at all.

Starting at $3.50/week.
