Buffalo BIlls: Team can’t finish a valiant effort

There are many reasons to be sick over what happened to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night in the gut-wrenching 42-36 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional playoffs.

Most of the debate late Sunday and Monday was over the team not being able to hold the lead in the final 13 seconds. The other point regarded the overtime rules. Buffalo never had the ball in the extra frame.

But there is so much more, once the region heals, to consider. Sunday’s game was one for the ages. In the final two minutes there were three lead changes that all involved touchdowns. Two heroic quarterbacks played near-flawless games.

Disappointment comes with the playoffs. After all, 14 teams make the postseason. Only one goes home a champ.

Buffalo has all the ingredients, keeping pace with the Chiefs throughout the wild contest. Their day is coming. This core group has the talent, ability and will to get it done.

Unfortunately, as is so often the case, we’ll have to wait until next year.
