SUNY Finding some room for the president

State University of New York at Fredonia President Stephen Kolison has been unable to reside at the Lanford House due to renovations that have been long overdue. Currently, he’s living in the Erie County suburbs of Buffalo.

“It’s impacting me. Most people don’t know the circumstances but wonder why they don’t see me,” Kolison said. “The very day that I can live there, I will be there.”

That’s reassuring to hear from Kolison, but it also points to a bit of a local crisis. Housing is just not as available in northern Chautauqua County as many would like to believe, especially for those moving in who are looking to reside in property that is on an upper scale.

Michael Metzger, vice president of administration and finance, noted earlier this month during a College Council meeting that construction at the house is not on time. If that is the case, Kolison — to have a closer connection — could consider staying at another location on campus that has some room during the week.

With decreasing enrollment, there have to be some possibilities of open space.

Starting at $3.50/week.
