SILVER CREEK ‘Amazing’ effort by Eagle Scout
An Eagle Scout’s project is being embraced in the village of Silver Creek. Samuel Bowers of Troop 267 in Fredonia took on a complete renovation of the funeral chapel at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Since 2009, due to its condition, the chapel had not been used as it was no longer a suitable place for mourners to say goodbye to their loved ones. His work, featured in our weekend edition, received plenty of praise. It also fills a need for grieving families.
Bowers was able to accomplish the project through generous donations of parishioners, community members, and businesses. Some of the renovations included a new front door, general building repairs, the addition of electricity and lighting in the chapel and a heater for comfort in the winter months.
Many readers commented on his efforts via our Facebook page. A sampling of the comments include:
¯ “Marvelous job! It is wonderful inside and out.”
¯ “Such an incredible thing to do for the community! Silver Creek is proud of you, Sam.”
¯ “Way to go, Sam! What an amazing contribution to the community! We are all so proud of you! Congratulations to you and your family on a job well done!”
¯ “You are proof that there are still good caring people out there. Love it and thank you!”
Like so many other Eagle Scout projects, Bowers’ dedication fills a community need. It is great to see all the appreciation.
