BUFFALO SABRES Team brings renewed excitement
Will the Buffalo Sabres be at home while on the road tonight in Boston? The region’s pro hockey team is in the midst of its first run at the playoffs in more than a decade.
In fact, the Sabres are the team with the longest drought for being in the playoffs in the National Hockey League. The last time it appeared was in 2011.
This year’s young team, however, is full of hope. Led by Rasmus Dahlin and Alex Tuch, both of whom are currently injured, the Sabres are near the top of the league in scoring goals. That’s entertainment!
But they are having trouble at the KeyBank Center, where they have won only 12 of their 31 games. Tonight, they battle one of the Stanley Cup favorites in the Bruins. The contest may provide one more indicator of whether this team is ready for the next step of the postseason.
As of Wednesday, they sat only three points out of a playoff spot. That means there is hope for the final 23 games for a beleaguered fan base.
