Dunkirk Business boosts market in city
One of the reasons this region remains in a recession when compared to the rest of the United States is a lack of private investment. All too often here, governments and schools are relied upon to make improvements to the community.
While that is often welcome, it is an unhealthy solution. Those institutions are funded greatly through tax dollars — not donations.
But it is good to see industry lend a hand when possible. That was the case in Dunkirk last month when Refresco was honored for its part in having the pavilion built at the Farmers’ Market at 45 Cliffstar Court.
“Refresco’s support for our community, and our local farmers, as the perennial Title Sponsor of our Dunkirk Farmers Market, in addition to their financial support for our new market pavilion, further highlights their commitment to promote local agriculture, provide a vibrant community gathering space and ensure access to fresh, healthy foods for all residents.” said Mayor Kate Wdowiasz. “We are thankful to have partners like Refresco who recognize the value that our Farmers Market brings to the community.”
For the most part, Refresco is a quiet contributor. Its operations support a local workforce of 350 employees.
Like other major employers, and now through the Farmers Market, it also is a key cog in the north county. The recognition is well worth it.
