ATHLETICS: Championship runs bring lots of fanfare
As the school year winds down, there is no doubting the winning atmosphere that is being celebrated for a number of schools. Some of the most impressive performances came from the diamond last week.
Both the Forestville Hornets and Gowanda Panthers punched their ticket to the state tournament in Binghamton. Forestville’s softball team is making a bit of history by getting to their first Final Four, which is a total team effort with big plays from the younger members.
“The young girls have been able to step up this entire season,” Forestville senior pitcher Megan Gruber stated. “Obviously, the top of our lineup is great, but these younger girls have really come through in the middle when we absolutely need them. I think they are the whole reason we are here, honestly.”
Gowanda baseball was dominant against Kendall last weekend in punching its ticket while numerous members of golf teams were participating in competitions as well as those in track and field.
It’s always great to see our athletes succeed. We wish them all the best as they continue to pursue championships this weekend.
