COUNTY: Helping Hospice through butterflies

This weekend marks a special event for Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care. The agency’s annual Service of Remembrance and Memorial Butterfly Release will take place on Saturday.

“In many cultures, butterflies symbolize the remarkable transformation between worlds,” said Jamie Probst, Director of Family Support Services at Hospice. “As butterflies emerge from their chrysalis, they signify both an end and a beginning-a profound representation of the journey of grief. It is through this journey that we discover new ways to cherish and preserve the bonds we shared.”

Guests are welcome to pick up their butterflies on the morning of the event, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Lakewood Office at 20 W. Fairmount Ave., or the former WCA Home at 134 Temple St., Fredonia.

Orders for butterflies and memorial program listings will be accepted through Wednesday. A single butterfly can be dedicated to multiple individuals. Names may also be submitted for the memorial listing without purchasing a butterfly. To participate or place an order, please visit https://chpc.care/butterfly.

For four decades, Hospice has served the residents of Chautauqua County, dedicating its services to the delivery of empathetic care and knowledge. This event is one way to give back to an agency that has consistently proven its caring ways to so many families.

Starting at $3.50/week.
