There is a lot of taxpayer dollars that CPL Architecture Engineering Planning receives from Chautauqua County alone. Just this week, the Silver Creek capital project including the new multi-sport athletic field -- worth $36.1 million -- was hailed as being handled by the firm.
From all accounts, it is a job well done.
Representatives from the North County Water District are not as jovial. Last month, CPL was criticized for its lack of attendance at the meeting.
Rich Lewis, Portland town supervisor, also noted the group is failing to send reports. “This is totally unacceptable, with the amount of money we’re spending on these people,” he said, later adding: “They have no problem cashing the checks and sending the bills.”
CPL has been trusted by many governments and schools when it comes to major local projects. If they have an unhappy customer, then it is not just about the elected officials who they are upsetting. That also includes the residents who live here.
For its part, the North County Water District approved a request for a letter to CPL seeking better reports and representation at future meetings. That is in everyone's best interest.
