Brocton’s Sons of the Legion edged out Westfield’s Motor Trendz in a hard fought game 9-8. Brocton’s hitting leaders were Jayden Mulville, Owen Pryll and Kane Cook all going 3 for 3 at the plate, with Neil Bundy and Cody Shanks adding two hits each. Westfield was led by Preston Tolon, Urijah Meredith and Owen Ramm who were all 3 for 3 hitting with Charlie Snyder and Landon Emery adding two hits each.

Black Knight Hall of Fame inductees, tourney set
SILVER CREEK — The 2018 Black Knight Hall of Fame has been announced. Inductees are Dan Bradley, Chris Perry, Pete Stockunas, Paul Mangano and Larry Barreca Sr. (posthumously).
A golf tourney to support the program will be held on Monday, July 9 at Tri County Country Club at 11 a.m. If interested in playing, please contact Sean Helmer at shelmer@silvercreekschools.org.
Gary Tripp golf tournament planned for Aug. 25
Save the date: Saturday, August 25, for The Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament. Details to be announced regarding place and time. Captains, get your foursomes together as letters will be sent out shortly. This will be the 10th and final GTMGT. It promises to be one awesome tournament. Feel free to pass the word. Fredonia State youth soccer camp June 24-28
The Fredonia State Blue Devils will be hosting a soccer camp for kids from Sunday, June 24 to Thursday, June 28. The camp will be held for ages 4-16 for all boys and girls. Gowanda softball tournament is June 30
GOWANDA – Gowanda Recreation will open their new Gateway Park softball field with a men’s slow pitch double elimination tournament on Saturday, June 30. Midget football, cheerleading signups June 16
Signups for Fredonia midget football and cheerleading are June 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pavilion at 42 Clinton Ave. Participants must be from ages 8 to 13 (must turn 8 before Aug. 1). Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate if he or she will be participating for the first time ever.
Silver Creek Kiwanis to hold charity golf event
SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Kiwanis Club plans a day of friendly competition Friday, June 29, while helping the children of Northern Chautauqua County, with the 23rd Annual Charity Golf tournament. It will be held at Tri County Country Club. The day will include a continental breakfast, golf, lunch, appetizers and prizes. Check in is from 7:45-8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m., rain or shine. The format is a four man scramble.

The Kiwanis Club supports children in the communities of Silver Creek, Forestville, Sheridan, Irving, and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Their work is funded solely through fundraisers and contributions. It is the goal of the club to continue to have a meaningful impact on our community’s children.
Dunkirk’s Football 101 camp announced
The Dunkirk school district’s Community Education is offering Football 101 for kids from elementary school through eighth grade this summer.
This camp, set for July 16-20, will help your child learn the basics of football while still having fun. The camp will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day.
