DLBA Golf Tournament July 21 at Rose Brook

The second annual Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Golf Tournament will be Saturday, July 21 at Rose Brook Golf Course, Beebe Road, Silver Creek.

Format: 4-person scramble (best ball). Registration at 10 a.m., shotgun start at 11 a.m. Cost is $90 per person or $360 per team and includes golf, cart, on course contests, prizes (for men, women and mixed teams), lunch at the turn and New York strip steak dinner afterward. A Chinese auction and 50/50 will also be available.

Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament Aug. 25

The Tenth and Final Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are progressing and on the First Tee. The 2018 tournament is set for Saturday, August 25 at the Vineyards golf courses in Fredonia. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.

The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the course and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club and a golfer’s gift. Captains’ foursome forms are being sent out the week of July 2.

The deadline to sign up is Monday, Aug. 6. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044. Extra foursome forms and sponsor forms will be available at the K Club.

Monies raised from past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School Scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia Scholarship.

Gym Rats Basketball Camp at Wheelock next week

The Fredonia boys basketball program will be hosting its sixth annual Gym Rats Basketball Camp this July at the Wheelock Primary School Gym. The camp is for boys and girls ages 4-9 and will be held the week of July 9-13. The camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon daily.

Campers will participate in lead-up games, relay races and a lot of passing, dribbling, ball handling and shooting. All campers get a free T-shirt, basketball & daily snack. The cost for the camp is $75 or $115 for two family members.

Gowanda Fast Pitch Tournament set for July 28

The 12th Annual Gowanda girls 16U fast pitch softball tournament will be held on Saturday, July 28 at Gateway Park. Each team will play three games, receive two all-star plaques and a complimentary scorebook. In addition, the championship team will receive T-shirts and the MVP plaque. Certified high school umpires will officiate. The entry fee is $50. There is room for one more team in the tournament. SUNY Fredonia hockey camp for kids Aug. 27-30

The SUNY Fredonia Hockey Camp for boys and girls ages 5-12 will be held August 27-30, 2018. It runs from Monday through Thursday from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Area youth football camp scheduled for July 29

Gateway Park in the Village of Gowanda will host a youth football camp on Sunday, July 29 from noon to 4 p.m. Athletes ages 7 through 13 are invited to attend. There is no residency requirement. Each participant will receive offensive skill instruction followed by lunch, a chalk talk and touch football tournament. Each participant will also receive a camp gift during the award’s ceremony. There is no cost to attend thanks to a donation made by the Gowanda American Legion Post #409. However, the camp is only accepting the first 35 athletes that preregister.
